The Letter Courier

I mailed letters today.

It's not raining today so I decided to bring my "snail mails" to the Post Office on foot, well, on running shoes actually. But I am no snail. Nope, I walked, ran and jogged all the way to the P.O. to mail my letters.

It took me 147 step/m [about 16,421 steps] from home to PO and back which is 6.12 miles [good enough for a 10k huh, wink*]. I burned 753 calories and clocked it at 1:51:51. Geez... I am a snail, indeed! It is actually my "dream" PR if I qualified [which I doubt it] for the NYC Marathon. hahaha.

Well, nothing can stop a runner to find good opportunity to train. I may be slow but it felt so good though. I am happy that my knee is not complaining too.

Next time, will try to cut the time in half ... or a quarter. Or better yet... I should stick to sending e-mail instead. wink*

Runner's Supplements

So I can run again. Apparently, I just need a total life-style change to be able to do things right. Didn't I know that before? Of course I do. I was just not highly motivated before. But now I am.

I went to the drug store a couple of weeks ago to check out what other vitamins I should take to help me with my joint issue. I take multi vitamins for years already but since I opted to a more active lifestyle now, I do need other vitamin supplement specifically for the bones and joints.
Now, aside from my multi-vitamins, I am taking Iron, extra Calcium for my bones, and Glucosamine & Chondroitin for joint flexibility and lubricant.

Can't complain now. Am no spring chicken... so it makes sense.

Ice Pack Mode

This morning after work, I finally found the courage to run again. Yes, finally the sun came out and my running shoes are back in business. I took the familiar route and it went off to a good start.

I did 3.05 miles at 17.25 pace about 6,448 steps with a medium intensity for a duration of 53 minutes and 8 seconds and burned 259 calories. It was an easy run with tons of caution mindful of my injured knee.
And speaking of my injured knee... yes, it hurts again when I got back from the 3-mile run. I was kinda worried but then, I know what to do now.  I did my homework, finally.
As soon as I was done with my stretching, I grabbed the frozen veggies that I had to prepare for supper and let it thaw on my sore knee. It did feel better when we were having supper.

Sneakers-Free Feet

I have not worn my running shoes for awhile now. So I decided to give myself a pedicure.
I still have not tried running again, just yet. Though my knees are healing pretty good, I am still a bit reluctant to mess my knee up again.

Well, I blame no one but myself for the pain that I have to endure now. I did not use my common sense. I should have done my homework first before I run. It was right after I did my first 5K that I learned that I should have taken the C25K course to prepare myself for the big event.

Well, I have something to blame for my stup*dity - excitement, that is. I was too excited to run so I just used what was available to me... the treadmill. Apparently, it is a No-No for runners, so I was told. According to the gym trainer the moving belt can have a bad impact on the joint when the foot lands on it. In my case, I think I twisted my knee one time. Then the constant pounding made it worse.

Oh well, that's one lesson learned. I just enjoy my French Tipped toes for a while then.

Newbie Runner... retiring already?

I have not written anything here in the past couple of weeks for 2 reasons.

One: My left knee was hurt really bad.
I don't really know if it was because I forgot stretching after the event or because I went shopping the following day.

Two: I have not ran since after my last 5K, so there is nothing to write about.
Obviously, since I was limping for a couple of weeks, there was no way I could really run.

Now the big question is... should I continue running or should I retire now?

Where is Spring?

It has been raining like crazy for days now. Where is the "sun"?

Don't mind me, I am just a whiner. I have been living here in Maine for almost 4 years now so I should get used to the weather. But then, since my knee is still not a-okay... sunny days are of good use to me if I cannot run.

So, running shoes and stilettos alike are back on the shoe-rack and out with the thong sandals.
